QuakeCon day 2: more gamers have trickled in to settle into their BYOC spots, eager attendees filled up the Quake World Championships audience and more enthusiasts swung by our booth to play Quake Champions and Wolfenstein on our Radeon and Ryzen systems.

So what else went down on day 2?

Some Mimics from Bethesda’s Prey got loose?

Day 2 Action

The Quake World Championships powered by Radeon RX Vega graphics featured some pretty intense matches, kicking off with a duel match between Cooller and Toxjq. With the finale drawing so close, every second counts—and the cheers and gasps told just how close victories will be for the finalists. Who knew what day 3 would bring…

Our XFX Radeon RX 580 graphics cards continued to power the Quake Champions experience at our booth flawlessly, alongside powerful Ryzen 7 CPUs. At the edge of our booth sat our Radeon RX Vega and Ryzen Threadripper systems, looking sleek and gorgeous in the Alienware Area-51 and Cybertron PCs powering Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.

Prizes Galore

Our very own Leslie Pirritano, Your Best Friend, got up on stage today to give away some goodies—look at that crowd!—with a hula hoop ring toss game, because why not play a silly game for prizes?

Winners walked away with swag, a Ryzen 7 CPU… and Zack’s prize bag contained a clear bookend block with a floating Vega logo inside. Yes, he won a fancy-looking, exclusive Vega cube—until Leslie approached him with the actual grand prize: a Radeon RX Vega graphics card.

Of course, today wasn’t the only day for AMD giving away goodies. There’s still tomorrow.

QuakeCon’s energy is non-stop! Keep an eye on our social media channels and our blog for more coverage of AMD at QuakeCon and the Quake World Championships.
