The boat creaked and the sky answered back with a thunderous roar. I found myself below deck in a room made of oak, the walls covered with maps from my previous journeys – Eastmarch, The Rift and Stonefalls. Illuminated by a lantern at the back of the room was the map of my next adventure, Vvardenfell of Morrowind.

As I emerged from the ship, the rain was gone and I was met with the diverse and distinct landscape of Morrowind. Giant mushrooms sprouted from the ground, towering over me. Streams of water snaked its way between hills and boulders. Hostile creatures waited around every corner and the weather changed its mind about as many times as I did during character creation – which was a lot.

Rain or shine, Morrowind pulled me in with its incredible world. Cities, delves and the distant menacing Red Mountain had me wondering, “What’s next?”

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind not only brings a new world to explore but also an entirely new class. For those who haven’t played ESO, there were four main classes: Templar, Dragon Knight, Sorcerer and Nightblade. With the Morrowind expansion, ESO introduced a new class for the first time – The Warden – and it was only right I embarked on my journey as one.

Meet Penny, a Warden who can harness the power of nature. She doesn’t exactly know what she’s doing (or why she’s even in Morrowind to begin with), but she gets along fine. Penny likes exploring, woodworking and taking selfies…

…sometimes in dangerous places.

As a Warden, Penny has an affinity with nature, able to summon creatures and life forces to both assault enemies and support allies. The Warden class is exhilarating and brings abilities the previous classes never offered.  Those who met Penny in battle had to face her animal companions and deathly shards of ice, erupting from the earth to skewer her foes.

One of the most crucial aspects of an MMO is the online community. The world can be vast and beautiful, but being able to make friends along the way is what really brings the game to life. The ESO community is very much alive, with many other players on the same journey to explore and become more powerful. Together you complete delves, defeat world bosses, overcome dungeon challenges and settle who’s best in PvP. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll become a member of a guild that will finally unlock the achievement: #SquadGoals.

My journey through Morrowind has only scratched the surface. I can’t wait to explore every corner of the map and develop my Warden build further. If you’re looking for a game that has it all – beautiful worlds, interesting storylines, dynamic combat and a thriving community – The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind is for you.
